A race to treat with caution but Encounter has a lot in his favour here and he is selected over Didn't Tell My Wife, Peregian and Mount Royale. The James Hetherington-trained seven-year-old acts on a variety of going but seems to put in his best efforts when tried on straight tracks such as this. He showed that he still has plenty to offer when digging deep to win a better race than this at Redcar last week. He is a consistent sort and gets on well with Sarah Bosley. Didn't Tell My Wife is in good form at present and has to rate as a big danger to the selection. But he has not been the most reliable performer in the past and is not one to go overboard about if the odds are cramped. Peregian is another whose profile fits the bill for a race of this nature and is one to monitor in the betting. Whilst Lucayan Monarch takes a huge drop in class from his last outing and it will be interesting if there is a solid move for him just before the off.
