Verdict

Five Two would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to take a hand first time out and gets the vote to make a winning debut at the main expense of Penny Glitters and Pab Special. The last mentioned has been kept busy on the all-weather this winter and has a fitness advantage over his rivals but is more exposed than most and looks worth taking on. Peter Chapple-Hyam's runners are out of form at present so his representatives Captain Torrance and River Kirov are probably best watched. Roger Charlton's Glitterati would need to improve on the form shown on his only start as a juvenile to trouble the judge, while Boss Mak has shown promise in two starts so far but may do better once qualified for handicaps, which he will be after today. Penny Glitters has similar claims to Vince Smith's gelding and could be of interest if fit for her return but the vote goes to the newcomer Five Two. Mick Channon's gelding takes the eye on pedigree being a well-related son of Mark Of Esteem and is taken to give his in-form handler another winner.
