The apprentices bring the curtain down with the promising Garry Whillans taken to score on ROYAL SWAIN. The former bumper winner has been absent for over 100 days but with the Swinbank yard back in good heart he makes plenty of appeal. He showed up well on all outings in the spring, notably when an excellent fifth here when last seen behind some very useful middle distance and staying sorts. The Fahey-Topliss combination scored with Antiguan Sunrise in this contest last year and Red Jade looks a strong contender to follow suit. An absence of over 270 days is a concern but he does go well fresh. Fossgate's winning spree may be over for the time being, with the improving Broughtons Paradis and in-form Carragold looking likelier sorts.
