Verdict
Sir Michael Stoute has a superb record in this and the recent rain will be a bonus for Treble Jig, who hasn't looked happy on fast ground on his last two starts. This is Bonfire Knight's trip as he showed when scoring at Doncaster and he acts on any ground though the one who should benefit from the going as much as any is Resurge, who made a superb return to action at Epsom where he scored twice on soft going last season. Arlequin had Northside Prince behind when scoring at Doncaster but the latter appeared unlucky and can take his revenge while Pleasant Day, who was having just his second start for Richard Fahey when a close second to the in-form Prince Of Johanne at Ripon on Friday, is another to consider. TAQLEED was a short-priced favourite for the Lincoln but John Gosden withdrew him over fears of fast going. His final run last year when a close sixth in the Cambridgeshire came on soft going and there's no doubt he is a very progressive type who can go on to better things. The latter remark also applies to Pekan Star, who was well behind Treble Jig on his debut but turned in a very professional performance to score at Nottingham in October.
