Kevin Ryan introduced The Grey Gatsby in this race last season and he saddles another likely type in FLAMING SPEAR. Sold for £260,000 at the Doncaster sales, he is out of a dam that was a winner on her racecourse debut. Mattmu has already had three starts and wasn't far away on a recent visit to Carlisle. Richard Fahey saddles an unprecedented four in the race and all appear to be long-term prospects. Polarisation was an expensive failure when failing to act upon the Fibresand at Southwell and given the vagaries of that surface, Mark Johnston's colt can be forgiven for that apparent below-par performance. We haven't seen too many Godolphin juveniles as yet so the market will give us plenty of idea as to where Best Example sits in the pecking order.
