In depth

Verdict

HIGH DEFINITION puts his Epsom credentials on the line here and is expected to pass the test with flying colours. The form of his victory in the Group 2 Beresford at the Curragh should hold up and this will be much more like his trip. Gear Up should be another heading to The Derby and he's already won here twice and landed a Group 1 at Saint-Cloud in very testing conditions. If the going turns soft he could bustle up the selection. Jim Bolger is having a superb campaign and Flying Visit's second to current Derby favourite Bolshoi Ballet in the Ballysax could hardly have been better advertised when the winner stormed to victory in the Derrinstown at Leopardstown on Sunday. Hurricane Lane is a son of Frankel out of a staying mare who produced a 1m4f winner with her first offspring. The Godolphin colt looked in need of every yard when scoring over 1m2f at Newbury and should relish a stamina test. Alenquer is another who will have no problems with the trip and some rain would aid his cause after strong performance in the Derby Trial at Sandown but Royal Champion is one of the few from his yard who made a disappointing reappearance.
