Verdict

Pilgrim has plenty of experience and has already achieved a rating of 83 so sets a decent standard but it’s not hard to envisage that he’ll find at least one too good again in this. Bona Fortuna, third on debut at Ayr, is an almost certain improver but this contest also features some nicely-bred newcomers. Gamekeeper is by sprinter Blue Point and out of dam which has produced winners with her first four offspring to race while Alhoby was a 78,000gns foal. William Haggas also saddles THUNDER FLOW and Paul Mulrennan’s mount, by the 2000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder out of a 6f winner, seems to have the right credentials.
