      Verdict

Tim Easterby has won three of the last five renewals of this hugely competitive handicap. Staxton competed at a very high level last season after his two victories at Haydock and will have been sharpened up by his reappearance in the Free Handicap. His stable companion Angels easily won maiden and novices' events before disappointing on very fast ground at Carlisle in the race won by Foxtrot Lady. The latter had some strong form without winning in her first campaign and her victories at Chester and Carlisle show her to be very much on the upgrade. Richard Fahey saddles four with the hat-trick seeking Gabrial The Saint looking a smart prospect though the assessor has taken no chances by raising him 11lb for his Leicester victory. BESHAAYIR beat Foxtrot Lady off levels at Newbury on just her second start and had little to beat on her return at Wolverhampton. She wasn't at her best over 7f at Musselburgh where she missed the break and she's well enough regarded to have Group 1 entries. Savalas, one of three from the Kevin Ryan yard, has won four times over the minimum but never over this trip while Jawwaal is making his handicap debut. Snazzy Jazzy, unbeaten in three starts last summer, disappointed when favourite for the Free Handicap but is expected to do much better.
