Wise Dennis won the Victoria Cup with plenty in hand on Saturday and is taken to follow up under just a 3lb penalty, getting the vote over Very Wise and Blythe Knight. The last mentioned was good value for his win over hurdles at Aintree and lost no caste in defeat when returned to the flat over 1m2f at Chester recently so has to be respected on ground that suits dropping back to a mile. Top weight Mine is capable but James Bethell's nine-year-old may be best watched on his reappearance, while Babodana has not won for some time. Kew Green has plenty to find with the selection on Victoria Cup form and is hard to recommend on that evidence, while Kings Point ran better at Thirsk last time and has claims on that form. Very Wise was good value for his win at Newcastle last time but a 7lb rise for that success looks harsh and a better bet looks to be Wise Dennis, who is taken to defy his penalty.
