Verdict

Aidan O'Brien's Almighty beat only one home in the Derby but this does not look to be the strongest of renewals so he has to be respected; however, along with Mark Johnston's Melrose Avenue, the son of Sadler's Wells would probably prefer a softer surface and preference is for Saadigg. The selection takes a step up in class but has been in progressive form in handicaps, will be suited by the going and should appreciate today's longer trip. Indian Pipe Dream has a similar profile to the selection but is probably more exposed, while Hearthstead Wings has yet to reproduce his juvenile form although there may be more to come over today's trip, especially if the rain arrives. John Dunop's Ebtikaar is going the right way but is not a certain stayer and a safer option looks to be Saadigg, who gets the vote.
