        Verdict

        Another mouthwatering contest that can be taken by Delsarte, who can reverse placings and form with High Accolade in receipt of weight, while Hawk Flyer should chase them home. The selection will have to come from a wide draw to take a hand up front, as he likes to do, but will be helped by this not being the biggest of fields. A tough sort, he produced an excellent effort in second when pitched in at this level at Royal Ascot, and looked the type to get better and better that day, albeit in second to High Accolade. Tried too highly in the Eclipse, he ran well again last time in the Scottish Derby and now back over this longer trip he can take his first Group 2 prize. High Accolade is blinkered for the first time here and if he takes to the hoods then he can again be a major player. Just held in this sort of company in the Gordon Stakes last time out, he will relish the battle but might just find that giving weight away all around is beyond him. The remainder can just about all be competitive too, but preference is for Hawk Flyer, who looks open to plenty of improvement and finished just behind High Accolade at Goodwood last time. But we will stick with Mark Johnston's impressive looking colt, Delsarte.
