In depth
Verdict
A fiercely competitive sprint to close proceedings with many in-form horses holding outstanding chances. Budelli was collared close home in the Great St Wilfrid Stakes on Saturday afternoon but he is a much improved performer this term and provided he shows no ill-affects from that race, he has a live chance off the same mark. He is drawn among the better horses in the race with Trace Clip and the enigmatic but incredibly well-handicapped Doctor Spin for company near the rail. Bunbury Cup winner, Mine steps back to six furlongs but the stable have struggled to maintain a consistent level of form and he may be best opposed today. Of those drawn low, Forever Times makes some appeal. She has done little wrong since stepping back to six furlongs and she has a substantial pull at the weights with Budelli on their Ascot meeting. Stewards' Cup winner, Bond Boy has gone up nine pounds for that victory but Ryan Moore takes a valuable five pounds off today and what could still be an unexposed horse. Of late they have tended to come down the centre of the track at York and with the seven draw, he may well be in the right place. Halmahera (second on that occasion) didn't let the form down on Saturday and another bold display can be anticipated. He is given the tentative Teamtalk nod on Tuesday although Doctor Spin and Budelli are feared.
