In depth

Verdict

This is a tight handicap to call but Danehill Willy, Dancer's Serenade and Diamonds And Dust all look to hold solid claims and the vote is given to Danehill Willy. The selection was good value for his recent success over Dahman and this progressive colt still looks to be one step ahead of the handicapper at present. He should be capable of defying another rise in the weights to score. Dancer's Serenade rates the main danger as he won in good style last time at Newcastle when beating Cripsey Brook. This is definitely his best trip but he is not the most consistent and on that basis he is narrowly passed over. Diamonds and Dust won well over a mile last time when he gave the impression that he would be suited by a step-up in trip. However, he is best on a softer surface and looks worth opposing today. Active Assett looks to have place prospects but he is held by our selection from their recent meeting and the handicapper looks to have his measure. We will therefore stick with Danehill Willy who looks the one to beat.
