In depth

Verdict

LEXICON LAD's second over hurdles at Newton Abbot was a very encouraging effort after a year on the sidelines. He won over this course and distance last year and another bold bid is anticipated. Rockiteer has been enjoying himself in hunter chases this spring but this is a much stiffer test for the top weight. Green Bank has been knocking on the door, as has Mr Syntax, while Double Whammy won easily at Kelso last month and probably has scope for further improvement. Allanard was due to race at Uttoxeter last night, however, and the trip might be a problem for Stagecoach Pearl. Carloswayback won easily at Ffos Las but on vastly different going and now has a penalty.
