          Verdict

          There is the usual big field to try and find the winner from for the Victoria Cup with no fewer than 28 runners set to face the starter. The key to the outcome here may come from a similarly tough-looking handicap at Newmarket's Craven meeting won by Sea Star two weeks ago. Henry Cecil's colt won with a bit in hand that day but does have more to do off his new mark. The third home at HQ, Nose The Trade, and the fifth, Idle Power, who was given a lot to do there, both re-oppose on better terms and like their Newmarket conqueror are drawn towards the stands' side rail. However, the second home in that race, Banjo Bay has been given a plum draw in stall 27 of the 28 runners (high draws are often an advantage in big-field handicaps at Ascot) and with Kevin Darley an eye-catching booking for Bryan McMahon's horse, he could be the most interesting of all.
