Verdict
It's not always easy to make up ground from off the pace on the round course as Prompter found last time and that also counts against the progressive Vulcanite more than the step up in class and stronger company which he should cope with. The quirky Mount Athos has claims as do Mark Johnston's runners, Montaff has a good record on a soft surface and could go well along with Hunterview and The Fonz but perhaps the most interesting amongst the alternatives is SIBERIAN TIGER who wasn't beaten far in this race from a 7lb higher mark last year. He's having just his third Flat start for a yard that landed a high profile race seven days ago and ran encouragingly at Doncaster last time; he's put forwards each-way as he will need to enjoy a little luck in running in coming from off the pace.
