    Verdict

SETTING SAIL returned to action with a facile odds-on victory at Wolverhampton last month having missed the whole of last year. He won on soft ground as a two-year-old and Charlie Appleby’s charge looks the one to beat in this opener now handicapping. Sextant ended last year with a close-up second in novice company over track and trip and will be winning a handicap this season while Blue Laureate was beaten only a head here in August and acts in soft going as does Now Children, a winner over today’s distance at Goodwood in October. Autumn War has yet to encounter slow ground but will be sharper for an outing at Doncaster and looks best of the rest.
