Verdict

Barsanti had SALOUEN (NAP) back in third when landing last year’s renewal on fast going. But the latter improved throughout last season and went within a head of beating Cracksman in the Coronation Cup in soft ground at Epsom in June. A creditable sixth in the Arc followed and today’s underfoot conditions could see Sylvester Kirk’s charge reverse last year’s form and come out best. The remaining pair have it all to do on these terms with What About Carlo not looking the force of old and Pilansberg stumbling and unseating his rider on his return to the Flat at Newbury last month.
