Verdict

In the day three finale, Eradicate is selected ahead of Ladies Best and Filios. Trainer Mark Johnston has won three of the last five runnings of this race and he sends out Eradicate here, who looked a progressive and useful performer when winning at Haydock last time. He has been raised seven pounds for that success but he still looks very competitive today. Johnston also runs Record Breaker - who is closely weighted with Noticeable based on a Goodwood run of 27 days ago, has won two of his three starts and comes here as a lightly-raced improver - and Swiss Act, who might prove to be the stable third-string. Sir Michael Stoute has won this race twice in recent years and he saddles Ladies Best, who very much looked as though he would improve for the run when third at Newmarket last time (Eradicate was three lengths ahead of him there and Ladies Best is now eight pounds better off at today's weights). The step up in trip should also help the son of King's Best. Also on the short list is Luca Cumani's Filios, who was a very unlucky loser at Haydock two runs ago before making amends at York. He too looks progressive. As you would expect, there are plenty of lightly-raced potential improvers lining up against these runners, including the hat-trick-seeking Man Of Vision, Philatelist, who is five pounds better off for three lengths with Eradicate based on Haydock form, Dansant, who is seven pounds better off with Eradicate for less than three lengths based on the form of the same race, Henry Cecil's Walking Talking, who is open to improvement at today's trip, and Aidan O'Brien's Red Rock Canyon. Once again, though, the selection is Eradicate.
