Verdict

Order Of St George will be a warm order to repeat last year’s clear-cut success. He’s been trained with an encore in mind so it may not pay to take much notice of his defeat by Torcedor at Navan in April as he’s won since at Leopardstown, though disappointed when behind Sheikhzayedroad, Quest For More and SIMPLE VERSE over 2m here in October. The fairer sex are well represented in this year’s renewal and get a small allowance and Ralph Beckett’s filly is a very classy performer with her trainer on record as saying he has no doubts concerning stamina. Sheikhzayedroad seems sure to be thereabouts on his third in the Dubai Gold Cup in March, though was just ahead of last month’s Sandown winner Big Orange that day. Sweet Selection may still be improving and beat Prince Of Arran and stablemate Nearly Caught in the Sagaro Stakes last month. She will definitely stay and Endless Time shapes as though she’ll stay, though has something to find with the selection on York running. Last year’s St Leger hero Harbour Law disappointed on his reappearance, however, and Trip To Paris is not the same horse that won this in 2015.
