Verdict
Yorkshire trainer Mick Easterby seldom wastes his visits to Ascot and mounts a three-pronged raid, starting with Johnson's Point in the opener. The five-year-old, a winner at Epsom for Barry Hills two years ago, gained further Flat victories when transferred to Easterby, at Beverley and Doncaster, and made an immediate impact over hurdles, scoring nicely on her debut at Haydock. However, she was all at sea on the softer ground at Doncaster next time and will be much more at home here. She carries a penalty for her win so will not have things all her own way against the likes of Neltina and Maiden Voyage, the latter in particular being open to improvement. The main danger though could turn out to be Posh Pearl, from the stable of Venetia Williams. They had a couple of winners at the weekend, and it was noticeable that Posh Pearl was sent off favourite on her return from a long absence at Taunton. She did not jump well on her timber bow and was beaten when falling, but she was good enough to chase home The Bajan Bandit in Aintree's Champion Bumper, and is expected to pay her way this term.
