In depth

Verdict

Mesbaah can improve on his debut to oblige, with Minos, Record Breaker and Majuro all expected to have bright futures. This race usually goes to a decent sort, and indeed was won by Barry Hills's Red Ash 12 months ago, so the outcome here should be noted for future reference. With the benefit of a run behind him, it is Mesbaah that can pay to follow on this occasion at least. The Michael Jarvis inmate posted a pleasing first effort when fourth to Rallying Cry on his Newmarket debut at the start of the month, and this well-bred individual, related to the likes of Nashwan and Unfuwain on the dam's side, can improve enough to beat some highly-rated sorts. Minos holds an entry in the the Shergar Cup back here in a fortnight's time so is obviously well regarded, while Record Breaker hails from a stable simply churning out juvenile winners at present. Majuro lines up here in preference to a Listed event on Saturday, and has been working very well at home, and Six Of Trumps, a Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy entrant, is one of Jamie Osborne's better juveniles. In what should be an informative event, the experience of Mesbaah can prove decisive.
