In depth

Verdict

Young Scotton showed decent form in bumpers last term and is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles with Rambling Minster and Cyrium rated the main dangers. The selection followed wins at Wetherby and Musselburgh with a fine effort in defeat in the bumper at Aintree's Grand National meeting and, if taking to timber, he should be too good for his rivals. Keith Reveley's Rambling Minster has already shown winning form over hurdles, fulfilling earlier promise when scoring at Wetherby in May and has claims if fit enough for his return although a penalty makes life tougher for the son of Minster Son. He still rated a bigger threat than newcomer Another Bargain, who represents the stable of Nicky Richards. Gay Oscar has winning bumper form and is another to consider along with Charlie Mann's twice placed Cyrium but Young Scotton is potentially a useful recruit to the novice hurdling ranks and should be tough to beat.
