In depth
Verdict
Dunnett Head will be a warm order here and gets the vote ahead of Lennon, Canavan, Ballyhale and Northern News. Much as bumper winners do not have a great record in carrying penalties to success, there was a lot to like about the way that the selection disposed of the opposition over today's course and distance in April. He is also highly regarded by his canny trainer and can start building on that reputation today. Turning to the others Notaproblem and Northern News have something to like on breeding, so keep a close eye on them. Lennon hails from the powerful Johnson-Wylie combo. Endless Power is very well-bred, while Dara Capall showed promise on his second start in a bumper last season. Ferdy Murphy's stable is starting to show form again and there is plenty to like on breeding about his runner, Canavan, and Brora Sutherland and Ballyhale are among those that should be watched in the betting. As a previous winner, Neidpath Castle warrants respect, although the form of that win has not worked out that well, which brings us back to Dunnet Head, who looks to be the one to beat.
