In depth

Verdict

A most disappointing turn out and, barring accidents, this looks at the mercy of Another General. The Richard Phillips-trained gelding showed progressive form over hurdles last term and looks just as effective over the larger obstacles having confirmed the promise of his debut effort when a decisive winner of a Doncaster novice event in January. The son of Glacial Storm has winning form in the mud and looks head and shoulders above his modest rivals with Bay Magic, who does at least boast a chase win, likely to prove the best of them.
