          Verdict

          Easily the most valuable meeting to be staged at Dunstall Park this winter gets underway with a competitive contest featuring a number of in-form rivals. Massey has proved a revelation since a switch to sprinting and is on to the hat-trick after lifting Class C events here and at Southwell last month. This pacey performer has been raised a further 4lb for his latest success but scored with something in hand and may be able to defy the handicapper once again. The ultra consistent Peruvian Chief found five furlongs too sharp last time and will appreciate the extra furlong. But, along with Quito and Sundried Tomato, he looks held by the selection on last month's course and distance form while Prince Of Blues faces no easy task on his return from a nine-month absence and may need the outing.
