In depth

Verdict

Catena won over the extended 7f on the slow going at Beverley last month but was partnered by a 7lb claimer on that occasion. Cerulean Bay is also penalised for scoring over 6f at Hamilton while Land Lover finished runner-up over the same trip at Carlisle. But DARK ENCOUNTER was doing his best work in the final furlong when runner-up at Redcar and gets the vote over this longer trip. Individualism is a half-brother to stablemates and high-class stayers Subjectivist and Sir Ron Priestley and is a newcomer to note for last year’s winning yard.
