In depth

Verdict

Winning hurdler George Ridsdale scored over 1m2f at Newcastle last week and is due to be raised by more than today’s 5lb penalty after this. He should figure again despite dropping down in trip. Ayr Poet is 6lb higher having escaped a penalty at Hamilton last time for an earlier success over track and trip when BROCTUNE RED finished runner-up. But the latter re-opposes on much better terms today and is fancied to turn the tables. Phantasmal’s recent success at Musselburgh came over 7f on fast going while Rosemay was awarded a race over today’s trip at the same fixture having been hampered when passing the post in second.
