In depth

Verdict

Fongs Gazelle, Merry Moon and Persian Peril are three against the field in a tough race to call for punters and the tentative vote is given to Fongs Gazelle. The selection was a fair third behind Prince Golan last time out. That form has since been franked and with the return to this faster surface also sure to bring about more improvement he will be hard to beat. Merry Moon rates the main danger on his latest second behind Yeravan but all his best form of late has been on a slightly softer surface and he looks opposable on that basis. Persian Peril was a fair fourth behind Whiffle last time and is another worth place claims but he hung badly last time so he can not be put forward with any confidence. Princess Palatine was third on her debut behind Emmas Surprise and is another that is sure to improve but that form has since been let down. Of the remainder Cassie's Choice is from a shrewd in form yard and could go well at a price but for the winner we are happy to return to Fongs Gazelle.
