          Verdict

          Compton Classic, Divine Spirit, Whozart and Legal Set are a handful against the field in this competitive handicap and the vote is given to Compton Classic. The selection was a fair third behind Rothsey Dancer last time out. That form has since been franked and off the same mark here he looks the value bet. Divine Spirit rates the main danger on his latest third behind The History Man but he is rising in the weights for getting beat and he looks opposable on that basis. Whozart has place claims on his best form but his best form is on a faster surface. Legal Set is another that could go well on his latest third behind Balakrief but he is hard to win with. Of the remainder Ashes has the ability to go close off this mark but consistency is not his strong point and with this in mind for the winner we return to Compton Classic.
