In depth
Verdict
A race that lacks strength in depth and the vote goes to Football Crazy who can defy top weight while Start Over, Cherished Number and Tony Tie are the alternatives. Neville Callaghan's charge showed progressive form last year, winning four on the bounce, and put up his best effort this term when a close fifth of 13 in better grade at Newmarket's Guineas meeting. The son of Mujadil wasn't seen at his best over an inadequate test of stamina last time and should give a good account returned to his optimum trip while the booking of Kevin Darley is a bonus. Cherished Number has been in excellent heart of late, following a Hamilton success with a placed effort at Haydock last time. But Ian Semple's four-year-old tries ten furlongs for the first time and there remains a big enough stamina doubt to oppose him on this occasion. Start Over was disappointing at Newcastle last month but is better judged on a staying-on second at Lingfield last time which gives him place claims at this level while Tony Tie represents an in-form yard and this course and distance winner has slipped down to a lenient mark so shouldn't be discounted.
