Verdict

Despite there being only four runners going to post for this, it is far from competitive. Returning from a ten week break Mamboesque will probably need the outing, which leaves just three to contend with. Toscanini is proven in a small field as there were only three runners when he won over 12-furlongs on the flat in Germany and just four runners when successful at Exeter back in March. However, he does have to prove he stays this far and with the front-running Punchy likely to set a strong pace, stamina will be at a premium. The latter made all when winning at Newton Abbot back in September when in the care of Mark Pitman, and with no doubts about his stamina, looks the one to be with. The ex-Irish Silver Dagger may provide the biggest threat. A winner over 10-furlongs at the Curragh nearly two years ago, he showed little in ten attempts over timber in his native country, but now in the capable hands of Jonjo O'Neill, it will come as a surprise if he can't get a win out of him somewhere.
