    In depth

Big Lachie was narrowly beaten in a Class 4 handicap here before scoring at this level on a return visit. He couldn't quite cope with penalty at Brighton but was attempting to concede the winner 10lb. Glamorous Rocket was last of 13 at Ascot in May, last of four here three weeks later, and occupied the same spot in a nine-runner race at Chepstow next time yet is still 6lb higher than his last winning mark. ROSE HIP has never raced over the minimum but has been showing very good pace over 6f, scoring over that trip at Nottingham before making a bold bid to defy a 5lb rise at Newbury. She can take advantage of the weight she receives and get back to winning ways. Crystal Deauville completed a double when scoring here under tonight's rider last May and is by no means out of this from 4lb lower.

Big Lachie 9-4fav (9-13) Slowly away in rear, ridden and headway entering final furlong, ran on to go 2nd towards finish, 2nd of 6, 2l behind Pink Flamingo (9-7) at Brighton 5f hcp (5) gf in Jul.

Rose Hip 5-1 (9-11) Went right start, pulled hard chasing leaders in centre, challenged and every chance 2f out, soon hung badly left, went 2nd inside final furlong, no chance with winner, 2nd of 14, 3 1/4l behind Rasheeq (9-12) at Newbury 6f hcp (5) gs in Jun.

Crystal Deauville (FR) 10-3 (8-11) Slight lead on rail, narrowly headed 2f out, chased leader and every chance until inside final furlong, weakened soon after, 5th of 6, 3 3/4l behind Whataguy (9-3) at Brighton 5f hcp (4) gs in Jun.

Glamorous Rocket (IRE) 28-1 (9-7) Led until over 1f out, no extra final furlong, last of 9, 10 1/2l behind A Sure Welcome (9-5) at Chepstow 5f hcp (5) gs in Jun.
