In depth

Verdict

Night Storm can account for Whatatodo and Shosalosa. Simon Dow's charge does have to carry topweight on Saturday afternoon but she won a competitive Goodwood handicap after making a poor start so if all is well from the stalls, she is capable of a follow up off a 6lb higher mark. Whatatodo is a previous course and distance and has to be respected. She is always dangerous if granted a soft lead although improvement on the racecourse has been matched by a tightening of the handicappers grip. Shosalosa was a useful juvenile but missed a three-year-old career. The fact that connections are still persevering after two modest runs suggests that she must be showing some enthusiasm for the task. Emphasis is on handicap debut after three maiden starts - the market is dutifully inspected for signs of confidence. Ignition has won previously on fast ground although connections have dispensed with cheekpieces on this occasion. Not the strongest of races and obvious chances of a follow up for Night Storm.
