Verdict

Ann Duffield has won this three times in the last five years and Benediction showed a bit more dash at Catterick last time. CHARLIE BEER PUNT went to Brighton for his debut in April and ran well enough. The trio who finished in front of him have all been beaten subsequently though in better company than this and Tom Dascombe's charge gets the nod. Suetonius has been showing good speed over 6f before weakening but this is a stiff 5f while Eid Rose was beaten a long way in a Ripon seller last time. Springforth started favourite in that latter race and though finishing runner-up was beaten a very long way.
