In depth

Verdict

Malinsa Blue has to be respected despite a 6lb penalty for his win at Pontefract last month but the five-year-old as yet to prove her effectiveness over this far and preference is for Im Spartacus, with Art Investor rated the pick of the remainder. The selection was a Group 3 winner as a three-year-old but has had his problems since then; however, a recent switch to the yard of Evan Williams and winning form over hurdles may have rejuvenated the gelding and he is taken to make a winning return to the level off what appears a fair mark. Contemplation is less exposed than most of these but is hard to recommend on all known form, while Splodger Mac is none too consistent and may be best watched. David Elsworth's Art Investor is open to improvement and could be of interest but remains a maiden and a better bet looks to be Im Spartacus, who gets the vote.
