In depth
Verdict
The Jimmy O'Reilly-trained Tantric has hit form at the right time for this and, with the best of the draw, he is selected in preference to Consensus, Trojan Flight and Soba Jones, who have all fared well with their positions in the stalls today. By way of contrast, Paddywack, Laurel Dawn and Beyond The Clouds, who are all previous course winners, look up against if from where they have to come from and all are reluctantly passed over given the prevalent bias at this course. Distant Times will also have to motor along in the early stages if he is to go anywhere near repeating his effort when last seen out and is another that may be best watched today. The state of the ground will also make sure that this is not for the feint hearted, but as Tantric could have no better man than Seb sanders to guide him thought to the finish, he is fancied to put his abundant stamina to good use at a track that is ideally set out to bring the best out of him.
