In depth

Verdict

Penel gets the vote over Golden Spectrum, with Aragon's Boy and Marabar worth a mention. Penel is dropped in grade after finishing third to Xpres Digital in claiming company at Southwell last time, and should have no problem staying today's trip on breeding. Paul Blockley's charge opened his account there over six furlongs the time before last in similar company to this, and may progress further. Goldren Spectrum is another that may appreciate the slightly further trip, while Aragon's Boy has a squeak if he can return to the form he showed for Henry Candy last year. Marabar could find no extra behind Mutassem over seven furlongs at Southwell so is another that can find improvement, but in a race that will not take too much winning, we return to Penel as the answer.
