Verdict
Likely favourite Leighton ran well from a bad draw at Ripon last time when a one-and-a-half length second to Flying Express over six furlongs. Stepped up an extra furlong today, James Bethell's gelding is expected to improve again here, though again his draw is not ideal. The same cannot be said of the Amanda Perrett-trained Prima Patrona, who runs from stall number eight. A recent introduction to the game at Salisbury will have done her the power of good and she should come on plenty for that run here. Eva Peron is one who has been tried at this trip when beaten two lengths into third by Dubrovsky at Warwick recently. Her pedigree suggests that she can win over this trip as a two-year-old, so it would be no surprise to see her improve on what we have seen so far from a decent draw. Of the debutantes, the market should prove the best guide, with perhaps Neil Graham's Luxi River the one to note.
