In depth
Verdict
This race is certainly more competitive, than the first two, but we just prefer the chances of Inescapable, with Magic Verse Pererin and Caerphilly Gal also on the shortlist. The latter put up an improved performance when beating Levantine by a length and a half at Kempton last weekend and although three pounds worse off here, is still fancied to confirm the form. Rae Guest saddles two, and Ryan Moore has been booked for Magic Verse, a beaten favourite over course and distance last time but almost certainly capable of better if the rain stays away. Pererin is relatively unexposed, and although Ian wood's gelding was a little disappointing at Yarmouth last time, he won a similar race at this course back in May and could be a big threat if back in that sort of mood. But the selection goes to Inescapable. Willie Muir's colt put up an improved performance on just his fifth start when winning a seller at Leicester last time, and was bought in for 4,500 guineas afterwards. There is every chance there is still more to come, the extra furlong should suit, and Inescapable is taken to score again.
