Verdict
As is only to be expected the day's Showcase Handicap is a very competitively framed affair and pin-pointing just one selection is not easy. However, Impeller is much better than his 'nearly horse' tag implies and he is given one more chance to shine here. Gems Bond, Compton Eclipse and Alinicala head the list of dangers and must to be monitored in the betting. But Impeller represents great each way value for a horse that has yet to finish out of the money from his visits to the south coast track. The Willie Muir-trained gelding has finally been given some respite by the handicapper of late and he has his ideal conditions to provide another solid run for the money at a likely fair price.
