Verdict

BEST ONE can live up to his name here, and carries our support in preference to the also shortlisted Carmenero and Fyodor. Ron Harris' gelding won here over the minimum trip first time out after switching yards, but has been disappointing subsequently. It's not a great race though, with little decent recent form to shout about. Given the nature of the track, experience here can be invaluable, and he's the only one to have been in the winners' enclosure here. Carmenero is on a losing streak of 28 races, but Seb Sanders with an excellent record at riding the track is an eye-catching jockey booking. Fyodor's best days may be behind him, but was claimed by David Evans in May; he was rated at 102 as recently as December, but has come tumbling down the ratings. Pintano won a similar race last month, but subsequently disappointed, highlighting his inconsistency, which is a trait of several here. It's not a great race, but our support goes with Best One.
