Verdict

Concertmaster gets the vote here ahead of Cracking and Rio Taffeta. The last-named represents Mick Channon who has a good record in this race and his gelding has solid claims today. He has shown hints of ability in his three starts so far however he may be of more interest when stepped up in trip as he has been getting outpaced over this minimum trip so far. Cracking wasn't given a hard time on debut when becoming short of room and losing momentum and it can be assumed that he should fare better today, however the one to side with today could be Concertmaster. Although disappointing last time out when a beaten favourite, he has shown plenty of promise in his two starts to date and could make it third time lucky. Newcomer Amazing Spirit should be monitored for support in the betting, but Concertmaster gets the tentative vote in an open race.
