      Verdict

      CAPTAIN CORELLI is 10lb higher than when winning this race last year but has scored at Pontefract recently and there looks more to come this season. Bankawi placed in a couple of amateur races here over the summer and missed an engagement at Catterick yesterday while Simulation Theory’s victory at Redcar came over a longer trip in a claiming race. Wakey Wakey was still well beaten when third at Beverley while stablemate Hildenley won at Hamilton when last in action and has undergone wind surgery since.
