In depth
Verdict
Carapuce is lumbered with twelve stones in the plate but can still take this ahead of King's Crest and Dileer. Len Lungo's five-year-old was a convincing winner at Ayr and Hexham before chasing home Campaign Trail and Kivotos in a class C handicap at Bangor. This represents a step down in grade and Carapuce can regain the winning thread. Richard Fahey has his string in fine fettle and King's Crest has made the frame in two decent novice events. He still has plenty of scope for further improvement and may be the one to chase home the selection. Dileer improved on his debut effort to run Nicky Henderson's Fleet Street close at Taunton last time. It is difficult to know just how good that form is, but representatives from other top yards were behind that day so it may turn out to have been an above average event . Of the rest, Merryvale Man has shown signs of ability, but Carapuce should be good enough to beat them all.
