Verdict
Although set to carry a penalty, The Weaver may be up to the task against Gay Oscar and Howard Johnson's newcomer Cotty's Rock. Although plenty of penalised runners are turned over in bumpers, there was a lot to like about the victory of The Weaver at Catterick last month. He battled really hard to beat The Buttress by a short-head and those qualities will stand him in good stead here. Gay Oscar showed promise when second on his Wetherby debut but may need another couple of runs before being backed, while Cotty's Rock comes from a stable that has benefited greatly from Graham Wylie's cheque book. The rest should be watched, and The Weaver has obvious claims.
