Another Tim Easterby-trained runner, Robinzal, catches the eye in a very tricky race to fathom. Knot In Wood and Lady Vee are others to consider, while a market move for Compton Spark will also be interesting. Compton Spark, like a few of the rest, has been tried over a variety of trips and is yet to really shine as a well handicapped horse. However, he did shape up encouragingly at Musselburgh a fortnight ago and, with a high draw beneficial over this trip, he could be well positioned to go close if he takes to sprinting this time. There is no reason why he should not on pedigree, so the son of Compton Place is one to bear in mind for each-way punters. Lady Vee came good on the All Weather at Wolverhampton last month and is entitled to respect in her follow up bid. She does not appear to be the strongest of battlers, though and may be vulnerable to a more determined type. Knot In The Wood ran arguably his best race so far when finishing fifth at Thirsk at the end of April. He is still open to improvement and can go close again today. However, like Open Minded, he already has a little to find with Robinzal and we again take the Easterby route this afternoon. This son of Zilzal likes to race prominently and, with nothing really standing out as a dark horse lurking amongst the rest, he is fancied to have too many guns when push come to shove.
