A chance is taken with Misty Princess, who gets a slender vote of confidence over Compton Classic, Ashes and Almaty Express. The last named faces no easy test from the top of the weights, though. Nevertheless, Martin Todhunter has a fair record with his runners on the Flat and he can be expected to be sent here primed for his reappearance. He is one for the notebook today. Compton Classic has form that ties in with a few of these and has a live chance at the weights. Jim Goldie has his string in good order and, with this stiff uphill finish sure to be to his liking, Compton Classic looks sure to be in the thick of it if he runs his usual race. Ashes has already gained plenty of experience and is an enthusiastic partner for Neil Callan to go to war with. However, her last two starts have not been the most convincing of her career to date and she may be a little short of the mark here. Therefore, we go with Misty Princess, who dropped a significant hint that her turn is near when she finished a close second at Wolverhampton last month. Her turf races from last year have produced several winners and, with the likelihood of a fair price being available, Misty Princess rates a sporting bet in a tough race to call.
