Verdict

Pagan Storm is the pick on recent evidence, with Tintac, Sandorra, Presenter and The Old Soldier noted along with Fairy Monarch. Pagan Storm responded to first-time blinkers when landing a Newmarket maiden for Amanda Perrett two years ago, but has found it hard to repeat the feat since being claimed by current connections. Ridden since by Kristin Stubbs, the five-year-old finally came good again at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago in a race as bad, if not worse than this, and despite having to now shoulder a penalty, he should be in the shake-up. Tintac makes a quick reappearance after turning out just four days ago, and his stable is churning out a few winners, while Sandorra won a claimer at Newcastle the time before last so is not a no-hoper. Presenter looked the likely winner a furlong out at Leicester before fading last time and the drop back in trip may help his cause, and the other to note is Fairy Monarch who put in a fair effort when beaten narrowly by Naughty Girl at Nottingham. The shorter journey here might not be in his favour though, and in any case we like the look of Pagan Storm.
