In depth

Verdict

These large-field chases are quite a spectacle around this unique circuit and we'll go with ALF 'N' DOR in the hope he won't 'bounce' after returning from a 436-day break to land a gutsy success at Ayr on debut for the Reed yard - the first noteworthy form shown since the spring of 2019. He is tempting off a mark of 98 and gets the nod. The likes of Damiens Dilemma and Mah Mate Bob are reliable but are probably where the handicapper wants them - ditto Outcrop at the head of the weights. All are respected along with Katalystic who should be all the better for last month's Perth effort. Check Coral Blue in the market on a first start over fences for his new yard.
